Bishop Mike Okonkwo Expounds on New Creation Realities at #WEC2019

The Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Bishop Mike Okonkwo, accompanied by his wife Bishop Peace Okonkwo, graced the Day 6 of the Word Explosion Conference 2019. The spiritual parents of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya opened up the evening’s teachings with blessings from both Mama and Papa. Speaking on the theme “New Creation Realities”, the Bishop, who took his opening text from 2Corinthians 5:16-21, noted that everyone who belongs to Christ has become a new species of life with the old being exchanged for the new.  Christ, he said, has made us right through the process of reconciliation, hence we should desist from allowing the devil to flaunt our mistakes before us to avoid failing always.

Reading Ephesians 2:11-16, Bishop Mike added that a brand new experience took place when Christ was invited into our lives; as we who were once outsiders were drawn nearer to Him with Grace and Mercy.  As members of God’s family, we are not to attribute ourselves to any earthly lineage but to the heavenly family where there is no sickness, failure, or lack. Voicing the reason for not getting answers to God’s promises, he noted that inasmuch as our input is not needed for God’s fulfillment of His promise as it has already been supplied by grace, yet, we need to believe and trust God and count Him faithful. Christians are not working in the abundance of grace supplied based on identity crisis, he said. As Christians you cannot be walking in flesh after accepting Christ; God sees you from the lenses of Christ as the In-Christ concept has been activated.

Making references to 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Proverbs 23:7, Bishop Mike hinted that our thoughts are governed by the things we see and as negativity are daily presented to us through the media, our focus should always be on the finished work of Christ as anything that cannot be found in Christ must not be seen in us. Reading from Luke 24 and John 20:29, he noted that most of Christ’s revelation and work was hinged on the disciple’s belief. Commenting on the revelation of Peter about Christ’s identity in Matthew 16:15, the Bishop stated that encountering God remains a personal encounter.

With regards to God’s faithfulness in making us new creatures through His Son, he stated that we are immune to negativity as every new day for us is a new day. Making mention of Mark 3:17, Bishop explained that as Christ has been chosen by God, so are we as believers having a special place in His heart. He admonished daily subjection to the scripture as a compass for finding one’s true identity in Christ. Jesus, our perfect example, exhibited in Isaiah 61:1-3 and Luke 4:16-22. He added that irrespective of our frailties when we believe what God says, His Spirit takes the word of truth to become a reality.
