Your Deliverance Is Sure! by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya

“Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God that it shall be even as it was told me.” – Acts 27:25

For many days their ship was tempest-tossed. Night merged with day as neither sun nor stars appeared. All hope of surviving was lost as all efforts to stabilise the ship failed. Not even their attempt to lighten the ship by throwing some of their luggage overboard could help.

Amidst the panic, Paul stepped forward and said, “…I exhort you to be of good cheer….” What a statement for such a troubled time. It was so unnatural. But what those with him failed to realise was that it would require more than the natural to save the situation.

Cheerfulness seemed an ineffective strategy against a storm, but that was the exact antidote to the winds of fear and panic driving the men on board ‘crazy’. Paul could, however, be at peace despite the apparent threats to their lives because he had a promise from God. He knew Him to be a faithful God—One who was always faithful to His Word. He knew that whatever God says, He does! Little wonder he was persuaded of the outcome of the crisis.

Remember, God’s angel had appeared to him that night saying, “Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed, God has granted you all those who sail with you” (Acts 27:33). So, He was certain that no matter how terribly the sea raged no harm would come upon him and his fellow travellers because he would surely appear before Caesar.

Paul’s situation was a shipwreck. What is yours today? Is it a marital, financial, health or emotional wreck? Whatever it is, as Paul said, “Be of good cheer!” Yes, be of good cheer! And being cheerful means to be happy, cheery, jolly, smiling, joyful, positive and merry. It works like medicine (Proverbs 17:22). Don’t throw your happiness away. Be joyful and jubilantly expectant that God will fulfil His promise to you. If the devil can’t steal your joy, he can’t steal your goods! Your deliverance is sure in Jesus name.

Now, deliverance from challenges comes only to those who are connected to the Saviour. Paul overcame because he was connected. You too can be connected today if only you believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour.

Please pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I confess You are my Lord. I believe You died and rose from the dead for my sake. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious blood. Fill me with your Spirit, and help me to follow you all the days of my life. In Your most precious name I pray.

I would like to hear from you if you just prayed this prayer. Please send a mail to pastortaiwo@tfolc.org.
