Pastor Nomthi Odukoya admonished the congregation at the September 8 Sunday service from Genesis 13:17, which is the promise for the week, to arise and possess what God has given them. According to her, God’s gifts to His children are free but they need to claim the promises, just as He instructed Abraham to arise and possess the land He had given him.
In her words, “There is a land that has been given to you; you have a right to live peacefully in it because God has given it to you. But don’t just look at it, arise and possess it.”
Speaking from 1 Timothy 2:1-3, she noted that prayer is needed to possess one’s possession because there would be obstacles on the way. Pastor Nomthi, therefore, urged them to always claim their promises through prayer. “Always seek God’s opinions on any matter. Don’t talk more than you pray. If you don’t arise, pray and claim your promise, nothing will happen,” she said.
