Taking his text from the theme scripture for the year, Psalms 40:1-3, Pastor Taiwo, at the first Thursday Showers for February 2020, charged the brethren to be deliberate and earnest while waiting on God for breakthroughs.
According to him, the waiting period is not a time to give up, as God can’t fail, assuring that as believers wait on Him, He will surely come through for them and pull them out of the miry clay.
Also reading from 1st Samuel 30:8 and using David as an example at the time of his distress, he said as David did, Christians should encourage one another for God is sure to show up.
He said no matter what might have been lost, they can all be recovered, noting that at a point in the life of David, he was just being rejected at the battlefront only to get back home to find his camp burnt, wives and children were taken captive.
The pastor recalled that David turned to God and recovered all. In Genesis 14:14, Abraham had a similar encounter when Sodom was raided and Lot was taken captive. With 400 men, Abraham went after 3 nations and recovered all.
As covenant children of the Most High, it is in the nature of the believer to recover what’s been stolen, he added.
According to him, with prayers as instructed in Luke 18:1, and with the help of the HolySpirit, Christians will be able to recover all and have that new song on their lips.
He encouraged the brethren to be prayerful, saying no matter how low one is, like David, he should turn to God; adding that God has promised us in Mathew 7:7, when a believer asks, he will surely receive.
