Move Forward, There Is More For You – Pastor Taiwo

Pastor Taiwo at the May 28 Thursday showers said that life is a race that all human beings are involved in, stating that having a successful completion can be truncated by one’s past or unnecessary anxiety of the future.

“As long as you’re alive, you’ve not finished your race and what will determine your outcome is your attitude and perception of the past. Distractions always come from holding on to the past,” he said.

Speaking from Philippians 3:13-15; Genesis 17:19; Luke 8:62 and Hebrews 10:38, he said that holding on tightly to the mistakes or successes of the past will make a believer lose focus of the beautiful future ahead of them. This, he noted, is against the fundamental principle of the kingdom of God.

“In the kingdom, we do not turn back so that we don’t miss the better things of the future. Regardless of what you’ve lost or gained in the past, your future is brighter and better than yesterday. But if you don’t understand it and live in expectation, you may not experience it,” he stated.

He further used King David’s affair with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband as an example to state that genuine repentance brings restoration, noting that the devil can no longer use the events of the past to accuse a believer again except if the believer will not let go of such past.

In his words, “Repentance is the force that knocks away the accusation of the offense committed yesterday and the impediment of the future. That’s the beauty of Christianity. The devil can’t accuse you of your past once you genuinely repent. So don’t let your mind or attitude hold you down. The future is still coming, forget the past and move into the future. God still has the best for you.”

He then urged believers from Hebrews 12:1-2 to allow Jesus to help them leave the past and focus on the future.

“Regret is an appalling waste of energy. You can’t build anything on it, it’s only good to wallow in. So forget the past, a greater future awaits you and if you’re going to reach that future and finish your assignment, you need to just forget the past,” he urged.
