The Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, announced during the church’s nightly webinar prayers that despite the government’s announcement that churches may begin to open from June 21 as the lockdown eases, The Fountain of Life Church will not open yet.

“We will wait until such a time when the situation will allow for more people to fellowship in church”, he explained to parishioners who were present at the webinar. Pastor Taiwo further revealed that following the government’s announcement, he had prayed about the next step the church should take. “Fountain is a family church. Based on the government’s guidelines, only about 500 people can worship in church, so who will we ask to stay at home?”

Pastor Taiwo further admonished Fountaineers to ensure they stay active and involved in church activities during this period.  “Church is not shut down. It’s the building that is shut down”, he stressed.

Adding that plans were underway to reopen the Children’s Church online, Pastor Taiwo also instructed department heads to ensure members are active and that departmental meetings be moved online to ensure member participation during this period.
