Hello Honourables,
We undoubtedly believe that you were blessed by the last week’s overview. We had the final overview of our study on Intercession on Tuesday, July 21 and it was another interactive and impactful session. Here’s the summary below to help you stay connected with God’s word.
The Heart of An Intercessor (Final Overview)
Jesus Christ is first of all intercessors. The bible calls Him our mediator and advocate. He sacrificed Himself to bring us back to God and continually intercedes for us till now. So, once you have accepted him as your Lord and saviour, He intercedes for you even till eternity (1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1; Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34).
As believers, interceding is a spiritual law and part of our ultimate destiny (1 Timothy 1; Ephesians 6:18). God has called us to pray for all believers everywhere. We must intercede because we have been called to do so. Every one of us has been called to be an intercessor.
How to Be More Committed to Interceding for Others
You must first believe it is an assignment. This will make you committed to the ministry of intercession. The three major ways to be more committed to interceding is to set your mind, the time and the place.
When you believe God has called you to intercede, then you will create time for it. The more you keep your date with God on intercession, the more committed you would be.
Important Tools for Intercession
The mouth and the tongue are major parts of the body that are important to an intercessor. What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the hearts (Proverbs 4:23; Matthew 12:34b; Proverbs 10:11a).
An intercessor should, therefore, possess a righteous, consecrated, offence-free, forgiving and ready-to-be-forgiven heart (1 Corinthians 2:16; Psalm 24:3-4). As a believer and an intercessor, your heart must be ready, be on fire for God and always repent and come back to God whenever you fall.
Prayer
Lord, give me an understanding of your love and faithfulness to me and mankind so that I will not derail in interceding for others. Put the love of others in me, so I can intercede for them.
