The Bimbo Odukoya Foundation has not ceased in its determination to rescue sexual abuse victims and train them with self-sustenance skills while providing support in all aspects to those who need it.
This mission was encapsulated in the foundation’s activities in September 2021, as the foundation responded to a total of five domestic and child abuse cases. Through her partners, the foundation was also able to sponsor three children back to school.
In a bid to further equip staff and volunteers, Mr Olukunle Neye and Oyedokun Adewole Oluwasogo participated in a two-day training organised by the Centre for Women’s Health and Information in collaboration with Children Protection Network to train members on how to engage with the community, their role in reducing/eliminating SGBV/VAWG, Resource Mobilisation, Sensitisation and Proper Reporting of Child Abuse cases.
Mrs Rose Ume also represented the foundation at the Media & Civil Society Round-Table on Human Trafficking & Forced Migration in Lagos State held today at Vantage Hub, Mosesola House, Allen organised by CLEEN Foundation as well as the second phase stakeholders’ consultative forum on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Lagos State hosted by Her Excellency, Dr (Mrs) Claudiana Ibironke Sanwo-Olu.
BOF participated in a workshop on developing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Integrated Service Provision and Strengthened Referral Pathways for Persons with Disabilities in Lagos State. The SOP, when developed, would help in preventing and responding more effectively to the menace of sexual and gender-based violence against persons living with a disability. The centre organised the meeting for Women’s Health and Information at Elomaz Maryland, Lagos.
CPN State Coordinator, Mrs Aderonke Oyelakin and Olukunle Neye represented the foundation at the step-down training of Ojo/Badagry, Ikeja/Kosofe, Ibeju-Lekki/Eti-Osa and Lagos Island Inauguration and Review Meeting with RoLAC at Pearlwort Hotel Ikeja.
The foundation also participated in other engagements like the Community Awareness Program (Project CAP) held at Ewu-Tuntun Community PWD Oshodi on Saturday, September 18 2021, and the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) launch of harmonised identification, screening and reporting tools developed by NAPTIP in collaboration with IOM.
