‘Pastor Nomthi Is Resting’ – Pastor Fred Ohiani

Desire the Breath of God – Pastor Dapo Williams

A week after the passing of the Associate Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya, songs of praise and worship have continued to be poured out to God for His faithfulness at the November 18 Thursday Showers.

In his words of exhortation, Pastor Dapo Williams used the account of David, who, despite his fasting and prayer, could not avert the death of his child as recorded in 2 Samuel 12:15-23. He also read from Psalm 18:1-10, noting that there is a spirit in every man and the breath of God brings understanding to them.

Asserting that God fights for those He delights in, Pastor Dapo urged the worshippers to desire the breath of God to understand the times of life and apply wisdom and understanding in living.

On his part, Pastor Abiodun Soderu explained that the human brain can not fathom or comprehend the wisdom and works of God fully, just as he noted that even God’s foolishness is wiser than the wisdom of men and His weakness, stronger than the strength of men.

Reading from 1 Corinthians 1:1-25 and Numbers 22:25-31 to show that God can move in different ways and even in a seemingly foolish way to pass across His message, Pastor Abiodun Soderu argued that believers need only trust and obey. “When it looks like God is seemingly weak, He knows what He is doing,” he said.

He, therefore, urged the worshippers from Deuteronomy 29:29 to be calm in their spirit so that they will be able to hear what God wants them to hear.

According to him, “There are some things you will never know and understand in the flesh but by and by, you will know. So I pray you will hear what God wants you to hear.”

Pastor Yemisi Akindolie, while ministering, said that God is good is not just a statement but the truth and that the truth is always constant whether one accepts it or not “the Lordship of Jesus is the Lordship of the truth.”

Likening the journey of life to the football pitch where a coach can replace a player at any time during the match, she said that Christians’ lives are in God’s hands, and He can call them home at the time He wants them home. “The coach knows what he has seen and knows why he is doing what he is doing,” she noted.

Speaking from 1 Corinthians 2:6-19, the clergywoman stated that believers need to always trust in the wisdom of God even when they don’t seem to understand what is going on around them or what God is doing with such situations.

Pastor Yemisi Akindolie enjoined Fountaineers to love God and trust His interpretation of things because His judgement is always the trust.

She noted, “We will not, on account of earthly wisdom and permutations, forget the faithfulness and goodness of God. Those permutations have their limitations, but God is God; His ways are not our ways, but His ways are true and dependable. He will continue to be faithful and glorify His name because He cannot change.”

Pastor Fred Ohiani, while rounding off the session, led the worshippers through a time of worship and, after that, said that even though many are still pained and asking God questions, the wisdom of men cannot be compared to that of God because nothing catches God by surprise.

Using John the Baptist’s question to Jesus in Luke 7:18-23 as an illustration, he said that there are times believers would have many questions for God when some situations befall them, but they should know that God will never forsake them, and He will always be present in whatever situations they find themselves.

The clergyman further noted that believers should not mourn like hopeless people because those who died in Christ are resting, and that is where Pastor Nomthi is.

In stating that Fountaineers should continue to worship God in spirit and truth as advised in John 4:24, Pastor Fred Ohiani encouraged them from John 14:1-4 and 16:33 to be of good cheer because God doesn’t make mistakes.

According to him, “He created the heavens and the earth, and in Him, all things consist. So don’t be sorrowful, but remember the impact you have got from this woman of love and praise God.”
