Pastor Paul Briggs has noted that God’s love is not based on a believer’s performance as He has already loved him like He loved Christ.

The Resident Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC), Kings Dome, Egbeda, said this in his sermon on February 17, 2022, Thursday Showers. He cited 1 John 4:8 to buttress that God is love and advised believers to correct their skewed perception of how God expresses His love to them.

According to him, this will help them love their neighbours appropriately. He pointed out the hindrances of receiving God’s love to include personal theology, unanswered prayers, and sin. “Despite these, God remains steadfast, forbearing of the believer, of a good thought towards him, and above all, He never fails,” the cleric added.

While referencing Matthew 5:44, he hinted that the recommendation for love could be stringent, but the disciples never went contrary to these laws to get Paul converted.

“Christianity is not a religion but a life”, he said in the message titled “The Royal Law”. The clergyman noted that II Corinthians 3:18 and James 2:8 – part of the scriptures he referenced during the service – reveal that the Bible was written from a monarchical context with the structure of a King, His Kingdom, and His Sons.

Pastor Paul Briggs referred to a kingdom as a governing influence of a king over his territory, impacting it with his will, values, and intents thereby producing a culture that influences its citizens.

The cleric said that the church remains God’s embassy where Christians learn about His kingdom and are guided by a constitution which is the Bible.

He further stated that the governing law of this kingdom is the law of love. According to the preacher, God’s love remains four-dimensional as expressed in Ephesians 4:18 and the believer ought to reciprocate the love in four dimensions as stated in Mark 12:30. He thus called on believers to develop and cultivate a genuine relationship with God, just as he insisted that God craves such from a Christian.
