The presiding pastor of Grace family, one of the parishes of The Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Tolu Ige has re-echoed to believers that Jesus is their shepherd.
He reiterated this during his sermon at the Thursday Showers service of March 3, 2022, at The Fountain of Life Church headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos State.
The preacher, who took his reading from Psalm 23, explained to the worshipers that as David took care of his shepherd, that is the same way God takes care of the believer.
“The psalm is a personal confession that we need to live by every day of our lives; for us to have all that we need, not what we want but what He wills that we have, we must know Him,” he said.
According to him, knowing God precedes hearing from Him; that is, they must first know God before they can hear from Him. Pastor Tolu Ige added that Jesus guides the believer through the Holy Spirit who is a gift of the Father.
“Irrespective of the failures, betrayals, disappointment, lies, Jesus through the Holy Spirit can lead us, guide us, help us navigate life successfully without us losing any of His promises,” Pastor Tolu Ige noted.
While also referencing James 1:3-12, Isaiah 43:5,42, Ephesians 6:10-18, Psalm 3:3, and Mark 11, he told the congregation that as children of God, they should never allow fear to speak to them because when fear speaks, they can’t hear God and that the valley of deep darkness is not only about death but also of trials, temptations, betrayals, disappointment; so that His glory will be revealed in those situations.
He said, “valley experiences are purposeful, unavoidable, partial, useful, should never be wasted; every experience is an indication that Jesus is taking us to a level of refined faith and cultured usefulness and purposefulness, where we reflect a matured character as His dear Son.”
The cleric urged them to draw close to God through His word, walking in the consciousness of His presence; take a position of victory, which is being bold because Jesus has already finished the work; Have faith in God; walk in the reality of their victory and resist the lie of the devil by speaking the word through their valley experiences.
“Your trust in God does not make us immune us to tough seasons of life, it comes to everyone at different phases of their lives, and it must be met with the appropriate response, faith in God,” the preacher added.
Before the sermon, Pastor Femi Megbope had led in the opening prayer. There was also a praise and worship session by the Grace Levites after which testimony of divine intervention was shared by Sister Kofo Soyebi.
While sharing her experience, Pastor Tosin Sowemimo, reminded believers about God’s faithfulness; noting that He has always been and is still faithful irrespective of circumstances.
