The Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, TFOLC, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, has admonished Christians not to get weary in the place of prayer but reminded them to ascribe the glory to God.

Pastor Taiwo said this at the Sunday service of June 12, 2022, at the church’s headquarters.

“For we are who we are by His glory, we are the creatures of His glory. Therefore, our very existence is for His glory,” he said in Ilupeju, Lagos State.

He read from Luke 18:1, where Christ stated that men always ought to pray and not faint and pointed out that a Christian who does not pray will be faint-hearted and lose hope.

“No matter what the situation is, never give up on praying. Never get to a place where you stop praying,” Pastor Taiwo added.

Furthermore, he quoted Romans 8:26 to buttress that a Christian is equipped with help from the Holy Spirit. Pastor Taiwo asserted that believers get help through the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer. According to the clergyman, the Holy Spirit ministers through believers via intercessions beyond words.

He also said that speaking in tongues builds up the believer like an edifice, helping them grow from strength to strength and becoming more robust as the Holy Spirit takes over.

While clarifying the doctrine of speaking in tongues, the preacher said that Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 14:2, was striking a balance about the subject to avoid confusion in the church.

“When one speaks in tongues, he speaks to God, and no man understands him but God. Therefore, as the believer speaks in tongues, he sets his life on course, and all things will fall into place, and victory will be always a daily occurrence,” he added.

Pastor Taiwo, therefore, encouraged the congregation to grow ceaselessly in prayer.

He noted, “There would undoubtedly be challenges on the way, but do not be discouraged, even when answers are not forthcoming, keep at it and keep praying daily till change comes.

“The mere fact that there are challenges shows the devil is at work, and he can only do that since he knows God has something great ahead for the believer. That is the reason we cannot stop praying.”

The cleric led the congregation in a series of prayers, just as he urged them to pray in the Spirit.

Earlier in the service, Pastor Yemisi Akindolie had shared the Promise for the Week, which was taken from Deuteronomy 20:4.

Pastor Yemisi said the Almighty, all-powerful, ever-present God is always there for His own, noting that He does not shy away from fighting their battles.

She said, “For the Lord your God is He that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies”.
