Husbands Must Treat Their Wives Right — Pastor Taiwo Odukoya

The Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, TFOLC, has asked husbands to be unwavering in loving their wives.

“The way you value and treat your wife is the way the world will treat her,” Pastor Taiwo told the congregation at the 2022 Father’s Day service held on Sunday, June 19.

He took his primary text from Ephesians 5:15–25 and 6:1-4 and explained that a man’s life is made for sharing much more than a woman’s. According to him, this is why God commanded man to love his wife as Christ loves the church.

While he acknowledged that this can be difficult, Pastor Taiwo said the Holy Spirit makes it possible.

“Christ’s love for the church is more than the eros type of love. “It is the Agape love that loves the unlovable,” he said.

Pastor Taiwo maintained that fatherhood is loaded with responsibilities and reminded husbands that God will hold them accountable for their families. Although the preacher said men are rarely celebrated, fathers too have needs.

“We have to celebrate our fathers. They need to be encouraged that they are appreciated; that is what Father’s Day serves to do,” Pastor Taiwo added.

‘Know Who You Are’

Aside from this, Pastor Taiwo also admonished believers to know their identity in Christ. This, he said, can be done when they are filled with the Holy Spirit and remain in Christ.

“It’s easy to get lost in this world we are in now but don’t get carried away. Know who you are in Christ,” the clergyman stated.

Earlier in the service, Mr Seyi Sowemimo took the Promise for the Week from Psalm 37:34. He explained that the righteous should not in defence lash out or take revenge in haste; instead, they should depend on the Lord for victory and watch Him fight for them.

“Keeping the way of the Lord is walking in the path that the Lord commands,” he said.

He urged them to seek God’s grace to be patient with the instruction of the Father for them to get what He promised.

Sunday’s service was a day to commemorate the International Father’s Day celebration. Fountaineers also celebrated Pastor Taiwo, who turned 66 on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
