The fourth leadership training by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya was held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at The Fountain of Life Church, TFOLC, and had in attendance people from different walks of life.

Pastor Taiwo spoke on leadership as an ethical culture of any organisation, just as he explained there is a difference between leading and managing people.

According to him, a leader touches, influences the lives and builds people up; while managers manage people to achieve the organisation’s goals.

The manager, Pastor Taiwo added, is not entirely invested in influencing people like a leader would.

Reading from Ephesians 4:9-12, he noted that “leadership is meant for the people you’ve been called to lead; both in ministry and other areas. Leadership is to equip people to help them grow into leaders as well. When you see a leader, he is committed and will strive to make things work.”

Pastor Taiwo noted that most churches today are filled with managers who are not leaders, which is why we have many systems affected by character issues.

Further, referencing Acts 6:1-4 Pastor Taiwo illustrated how the Apostles displayed their leadership traits when they realised the church was having challenges, and they quickly stepped in to deal with those challenges by delegating responsibilities to the qualified people.

“Leaders should be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of those they have been called to lead and help guide on their strengths. They must also be able to delegate responsibilities to each person according to their strengths.

“A leader must be a person of good character, reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom while delegating people of the same characteristics,” he added.
