Christians have been reminded that they belong to God and to a covenant.
The reminder came from Pastor Tosin Sowemimo of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC), Ilupeju, Lagos, while sharing with the congregation at the July 9 first Sunday service held at the church’s main auditorium.
Referencing 1 Samuel 18:1-4; 20:16-17, Pastor Tosin Sowemimo told the congregation that every blessing that came to Mephibosheth resulted from the covenant between David and Jonathan.
She explained that Mephibosheth was found in a place of no hope for progress and that there was no place he prayed that God should save him but for the covenant between David and Jonathan that restored all that was lost.
The cleric said: “The covenant is full, complete, total, and overflowing. You must always remember that you belong to a covenant. Remember that with God, there are no favourites. So, fear not”.
In further referencing 1 Corinthians 11:25, Hebrews 8:6, 2Timothy 2:19, and Deuteronomy 6:4; 13-15, Pastor Tosin Sowemimo also reminded the congregation that the days are evil, remember that they live in a covenant and that there is power in a covenant which must be activated because everything needed as a believer is in God’s covenant.
“You live in a covenant; your life is hidden in a covenant. Everything in man can fail, but the fear of God cannot fail”, she argued.
The clergywoman also pointed out that if a human covenant between David and Jonathan could deliver such restoration, how much more God’s.
“Always celebrate the covenant; the Lord wants us to wake up to the reality of His covenant. Jesus Christ is the mediator of the covenant,” she stated.
Pastor Tosin Sowemimo emphasized that the covenant will always have the final word and that no covenant is ever one way but two ways.
She further said that every Christian is answerable to God and can’t afford to live carelessly.
“We cannot feel comfortable with sin; the world will always suggest things, but we have the power to say no. Don’t write yourself off, don’t think it is over, tap into that covenant daily and let that covenant speak and take its rightful place”, said Pastor Tosin Sowemimo.
The preacher encouraged everyone to depart from what is not of the Lord and that the Holy Spirit is always available. She also charged the congregation to not be deceived by the wiles of the enemy.
In conclusion, she encouraged the congregation not to harm brothers and sisters in the covenant as God frowns at it.
