Believers have been given authority in Christ, and they need to recognize and use that authority as they embark upon the journey of life.
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC) stated this during the Sunday service of December 17, 2023, adding that principalities and powers recognize the authority and power that the children of God are filled with, but would take advantage of any Christian who is unaware of the authority he or she has.
Referencing Joshua 6:2, the Senior Pastor, in continuation of the message — ‘The Wall, The Praise and The Glory’, stated that when one has the authority of a king, one is undefeated just as the children of Israel could not be attacked while marching round the walls of Jericho even though the warriors had the advantage of height and being fortified because God had told Joshua that He had given Jericho into their hands.
The clergyman further stated that the authority that was initially given to man and was lost through sin was restored to them at the point of salvation.
Linking this to the present lifestyles of believers, the man of God noted that Christians are usually weak as a result of sin, which leads to the yielding of the authority that they have been giving to the devil.
This, according to him, can be handled when believers recognize their mistakes, repent, and return to their Father.
In his words: “Jesus has paid the price, so you don’t need to do life by your strength. The devil will tell lies and hold the things you have done against you, but remind the devil that you are still a son, and nothing can separate you from the love of God, your Father.”
He, therefore, urged the congregation to desist from the use of contrary words to the Word of God, as that would yield their authority to the devil, but to always declare the Word of God boldly in response to all situations and circumstances as everything bows to the Word of God and the name of Jesus.
“Speaking the Word of God puts the logos of God into that situation, and you have been given authority to place a demand on the Word of God,” he added.
