Pastor Taiwo has assured that Christians that no matter the chaos on the outside, there is a place of peace for the children of God.
He gave the assurance on Sunday, March 22nd, 2020, during the church service at The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
According to Pastor Taiwo who took his text from Psalm 46:1-11, the believer is not alone, adding that there is a city of refuge and a shadow for them to hide under.
“No matter the depth of your fear, God remains your refuge. This season will pass. We will overcome and our confidence in the Lord will be strengthened more than ever,” he said.
“Do not be afraid. The Lord has put a new song in your mouth. Demonstrate your confidence by singing that new song.”
He told Fountainers to be confident and assured that God will never leave nor forsake them, warning them that fear cripples.
He said: “What you fear, you will attract. So, declare to yourself, ‘I will not be afraid!’ The fact that you should not be afraid does not mean you should be reckless. You have to do the needful.”
Amid the outbreak of COVID-19, he urged them to:
– Maintain a high level of hygiene—regularly wash your hands with
soap and water, use hand sanitizers, etc.
– Practise social distancing.
– Obey the instructions of relevant agencies and experts (WHO,
NCDC, Ministry of Health, etc.).
Also, he urged believers to guard their thoughts, noting that “What you think and say at a time like this is very important; it will determine where you end up. God is your security in this situation. You have to keep believing that He will keep you.”
The clergyman expressed optimism that “With joy, we will overcome. The joy of the Lord is our strength.
“God has delivered us from a horrible pit and put a new song in our mouths. We are coming out of all these stronger in Jesus name.”
The service was followed online due to the Lagos State Government’s rule on gatherings in the face of the coronavirus outbreak.
