Sunday, January 9, was a special day for members of the Oko-Agbon branch of The Fountain of Life Church as both old and young converged to celebrate the goodness of God in the last three years of the church’s establishment.
The event witnessed rendition of praises and worship to God in the ‘Egun’ dialect, the predominant language of the community, which goes along with the dynamic dance steps of the community and the extraordinary testimonies of divine healing, intervention, and provision.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, was ably represented by Pastor Omolara Adesanya, who also gave the Word of exhortation.
The pastor in charge of the Oko-Agbon branch, Pastor Biodun Soderu, while welcoming members and guests, stated the awesomeness of God over the church in the last three years. He likened God’s faithfulness towards the church as proof of His everlasting love towards them. According to him, God resides at Oko Agbon.
“God visits Yaba, Island, Ghana, London, America, Britain and other places, but He lives in Oko Agbon permanently,” he said.
In her message, Pastor Lara, as fondly called, spoke about the parables of the hidden treasure, talents, and the fishing net to explain the kingdom of God and the expectations of believers’ attitudes and characters in the kingdom.
Speaking from Matthew 12:44-49 and Luke 7:21, the cleric noted that Jesus’ primary concern is about the kingdom and not denomination, noting that the kingdom of God is where Jesus reigns as King.
She further noted that the kingdom of God has two dimensions, the heavenly kingdom and the earthly kingdom represented by the church.
“The kingdom on earth is not yet perfect because it still harbours everyone the way they were and keeps cleansing them until maturity in Christ as stated in 2 Peter 3:9,” the preacher said.
Speaking about the parable of the hidden treasure, she explained that Jesus is the treasure, and He is worth more than any earthly treasure. According to her, believers are on earth to fulfil God’s purpose for them.
“The Kingdom is what you can hinge everything on because what you have does not matter. It cannot be compared with this treasure, Jesus Christ. When you have this treasure, you have everything. Therefore, you are on this planet not to please humans but to identify what God wants you to achieve for Him on earth,” she said.
Pastor Lara added that this requires their totality, dedication and submission to Him.
“Do not be a fair-weather Christian who only goes to God whenever they need something from Him. Instead, be a Christian with a relationship with God always,” she stated.
She further urged them from Matthew 19:24 not to trust in riches because it would hinder them from accessing God and His kingdom but trust in God, dwelling on His Word and being of service to Him.
“When you have the Word of God in you, you will not be afraid to say it,” she added
In closing, she assured believers that 2022 would be a year of blessing and favour, stating that God will reveal His glory and do the impossible in their lives, giving them double promotions. “You only need to be faithful to God so that He can also be faithful to you,” Pastor Lara further noted.
