The power and presence of God were palpable at the November Anointing service as Pastor Jimmy Odukoya led the congregation in prayers from the scriptures. Having declared the month as that of Glorious Encounters, the clergy used the life of Prophet Elijah and the events around him as recorded in 1 Kings 17:1-16 (AMP) as the foundation of his preaching and prayers on Glorious Encounters.

According to him, believers can only experience glorious encounters when they honour God with their whole life, removing any idol from their hearts. He added that glorious encounters are possible when believers stay in their place of provision, obeying the voice of God and His instructions, standing in the right place at the right time, and trusting in God completely.

“Anything that becomes front and center in your life, that is your object of desire, that is not God becomes, an idol; whether job, a person, goal, desire or even the call of God,” he said. Pastor Jimmy Odukoya continued, “The desire to be used by God more than to be WITH God is an idol.”

Also speaking from Deuteronomy 11:11-17, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, 2 Peter 1:3, and Philippians 4:19, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya told his listeners that living in disobedience to God would make believers still experience draught even though they are in the promised land just as it happened to the children of Israel, who disobeyed God by erecting idols in place of God on their way to the promised land.

Pastor Jimmy thereafter led the congregation in seven powerful prayer points from 1 Kings 17:1-16 after which he made prophetic declarations over the congregation for the month of November as he rounded off his message.
