As a Christian, there are things you are doing today that your generations, yet unborn, would reap from because of your legacy.

Pastor Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC), Ilupeju, Lagos, stated the above at the July 9 Sunday second service.

Speaking on the repercussions of believers’ actions on them and their generations, Pastor Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, insisted that a legacy is passed on whether people are aware of it or not, with an addition that God is interested in legacies.

“The truth about legacy is that it is happening whether you are aware of it or not, and more importantly, God is also interested in it,” said the clergywoman.

In referencing Psalm 145:4 and Genesis 12:1-5, the cleric, who noted that God is very big and concerned about what believers pass on to their children and people around them as it pertains to the kingdom, used the account of Abraham, David, Joseph, and other biblical patriarchs as examples, and noted that God is big on legacies.

“God doesn’t deal with His people on a situational basis but on a generational basis. To God, legacy is a continuum”, she said.

The preacher also used the account of God’s demand for Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as recorded in Genesis 22:1-18 to say that God always creates opportunities for promise carriers to bring forth those blessings and unlock the things He has said about generational blessings.

According to Pastor Tolu, “When there is an opportunity, there must be an instruction, and there must be an obedience.

“God created an opportunity for Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, and Abraham obeyed. Then God unlocked the generational blessings to him. So, Abraham’s offspring and generations already became blessed even before they were born.”

The clergywoman noted that once someone gives his/her life to Christ and becomes born again, that person has entered into purpose, adding that there is no creation without a creator, and everything created was created for a purpose.

In her words: “So the day you are connected with Jesus Christ, that day you start to walk in your purpose, and the more of Him you know and understand, the more of yourself you know.”

She, therefore, urged the congregation from 2 Samuel 7:8-13 to continue to get deeper in God’s word and intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit as that is when they understand the purpose of their creation and walk therein.
